On April 1, 2001 the Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District became the 3rd Critical Access Hospital designated by the State of California. This designation enables Tehachapi Hospital to receive cost-based Medicare reimbursement, thereby improving the amount of Medicare payments received by the hospital.
