What the Foundation is

The Tehachapi Hospital Foundation (THF) was created in 1983 as an IRS 501(c)(3) organization with hospital nonprofit public benefit purposes stated. Public support for the Tehachapi Hospital later reached a relative low and the group became inactive as a result. Then, when it became obvious that Tehachapi was in danger of losing its hospital, public apathy turned to concern and in May 2001 THF reactivated with the goal of building a new hospital. The Foundation incorporated in 2001 as a nonprofit California Public Benefit Corporation with the primary objectives “to promote and to advance a new healthcare facility and needs of the Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District”, “to build a new Medical Facility to include, but not be limited to, a new hospital, new long term care facilities, medical office facilities and related support facilities”, and “to engage in fund raising activities and solicitations to carry out said objectives”.
