A “yes” vote for Measure X means you are approving a new 30-year lease between Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District and Adventist Health for the District’s current hospital, three existing outpatient clinics, and a new outpatient pavilion. In 2016, voters approved a 30-year lease between the District and Adventist Health, which required Adventist Health to pay adequate compensation to lease and operate the District’s new hospital. Adventist Health’s payment of rent was used to finish construction and equip the District’s new hospital. Construction was completed and the new hospital opened in November of 2018.
The District and Adventist Health are now proposing to a new 30-year lease under which Adventist Health will construct a new outpatient pavilion and pay adequate compensation to the District to lease the current hospital, three existing outpatient clinics, and the new outpatient pavilion. The new outpatient pavilion will be used to provide primary care, specialty care, behavioral health, and dental services to the community. The District will continue to exist and own the real property and facilities. The District’s board of directors will continue to oversee compliance with the affiliation and lease agreements.
